UNDER-GLOW LIGHT KITS FOR RVS, CAMPERS, & TRAILERS

Adding Under-Glow accent lighting under your RV, motorhome, trailer or camper is the perfect way to make your RV truly unique. Aside from looking cool, under-glow lighting can also be functional by providing low-level lighting around your RV that you control. Illuminating the under-side of your rig at night allows you to see electric, sewer and water hookups as well as monitor the leveling process. It's ideal for those after-dark campground parking situations where you need just enough light to see what you're doing but not too much light to bother your campground neighbors.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE STANDARD KIT

• 2 - LED light strips (Multi-Color or Single Color) with 300 super bright LEDs mounted on your choice of black or white PCB. Total length is 5 meters (about 16 feet) and can be cut every 3 LEDs if so desired. Each strip has authentic 3M industrial strength backing tape affixed to the back of the strip. Each LED strip has 15' of additional power lead cable (color matches the PCB color). Additional power lead cable can be purchased if needed.
• 1 - Wireless RF Remote Control with your choice of either our popular M7 TV STYLE remote control or compact KEY FOB remote control. 900 LED Capacity.

UPGRADES & ADD-ONS

We offer a number of upgrades and add-ons to our standard Under-Glow light kit:

• Bluetooth Smart Phone Integration. These high-tech controllers are capable of displaying 16 million different color combinations. In addition, lighting effects on the Smart Phone Blue Tooth controller are significantly more controllable in terms of speed and intensity. Each color and lighting effect is controlled by "sliders" or a color square on your smart phone screen so you can adjust the speed and intensity to get the lighting exactly the way you want it. There are three PRE-SETS too which allow you to save your favorite configuration. There's even a programmable color rotation feature.
• 110/120vac adapter (10amp, 20amp). While Boogey Lights products are native 12vdc lights, we offer 110/120vac converters that allow our lights to be run on standard 110/120vac electric.
• Controller capacity upgrades to 1800 LEDs (Heavy Duty Controller) or 3000 LEDs (Dual Zone Heavy Duty controller) capacity. We offer these controller capacity upgrades because some customers want to add more LEDs to the base kit. These larger controller capacities allow for expansion.
• ADD-ON LED strips in lengths of 2', 4', 8', 12' and 16'. Each Add-On LED strip comes with a power lead in lengths of 10', 15', 20', 25' and 50'. These Add-On LED strips make it easy to add more LEDs to our base Under-Glow light kit.
• Long Range RF wireless remote (M7 format). This remote control doubles (at least) the effective range of our standard wireless RF remote control included with many of our LED controllers. Works better too in situations where the controller is mounted inside or behind metal surfaces. Can be paired with any of our M7 compatible controllers.
• Optional Key Fob RF wireless remotes (2 included). Our Key Fob wireless remotes are smaller than the standard M7 remote and come with guard cover that protects the keys from being accidentially pressed. Ideal for key chains. These Key Fob remotes are widely used on our motorcycle lighting products but some consumers prefer them for our awning lights too.
• Mini T12 Aluminum Channel and Diffusers. These Mini T12 aluminum channels and the optional opal diffuser make for a clean and professional look in situations where the LED strips are in plain view. The diffuser gives off a nice glow lighting effect which some prefer. The Mini T12 aluminum channel is a low profile design that can be mounted just about anywhere. The Mini T12 has an anodized finish (electrostatic sprayed) which provides maximum protection against the elements. The channel can be mounted any number of ways including adhesive tape or screws. Then, our LED strips fit nicely into the channel using the 3M tape already affixed to the back of Boogey Lights LED rolls. The diffuser completes the installation by snapping into the channel.

 

PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) COLOR

The Printed Circuit Board material we use is made specifically for our LED applications for outdoor applications. Our hi-intensity LEDs are mounted on our specially designed PCB which is available in both black and white. The color of the PCB makes a difference in how the finished installation looks in the daylight. If you have a light colored RV, you will probably want to order the WHITE PCB light strip. If you have a dark colored RV, you will probably want to order the BLACK PCB light strip.

 

INSTALLATION FAQS

• Maximum length of one continuous LED strip is 5 meters (about 16'). Two strips cannot be "daisy-chained" together. The limitation is an electrical limitation of DC voltage combined with the power requirements of the super-bright hi-intensity LEDs we use. Longer runs can be accomplished by putting two strips end to end with both power leads running back to the controller.
• Boogey Lights® are 12vdc devices. In most cases this 12vdc power can be obtained either by tapping into an existing 12vdc circuit or running the power lead back to the house batteries (our preferred method). For Under-Glow installations we recommend mounting the controller wherever the house batteries are located and then running all power leads from the LED strips back to the controller. For those that don't have 12vdc power easily accessible, we also offer a 110/120vac to 12vdc converter.

• If you don't want to do the installation yourself, you have plenty of options. First, take a look at our Boogey Lights® dealer locater to see if there's a dealer local to you that can do it. If not, we suggest asking your favorite local RV dealer. Or, as an alternative, any shop that does 12vdc work should be able to do it. The installation is not complicated nor does it require any special tools.
• Will the double-sided 3M® tape really hold the lights to the RV permanently? The answer is ABSOLUTELY -- assuming you follow our installation instructions. With each awning light kit we include a catalyst made by 3M® often referred to as '3M Promoter' or '3M Primer'. When the surface is prepared properly with 3M® primer, your awning light strip will stay stuck - at least until such time you want to remove it. And in case you're wondering, our experience over the past 20 years is that removing the strip will not damage the painted surface or decals.

 

TYPICAL INSTALLATION

There is no set installation configuration. Whether you have a motor home, bus, 5th wheel, tag-along travel trailer, utility trailer, food truck or semi-truck the configuration concepts are pretty much the same. Your rig and your imagination are the only limits. Using the diagram below, here are some typical installation ideas to consider which have worked well for other customers.

STANDARD INSTALLATION - 2 HI-INTENSITY LED STRIPS

A: The standard Under-Glow kit includes two, super bright 16' LED light strips (each with 300 LEDs). These two strips are typically mounted (centered) between the front axle and the rear axle. While the distance between the front axle and the rear axle might be longer than 16', most customers find that the two16' LED strips provide more than enough light for the area between the front and rear axles.

WANT MORE LIGHT? ADD FULL PERIMETER LIGHTING

B & C: For additional light, you can add a 4' or 8' LED light strip at the rear and / or the front of the coach to provide full perimeter lighting. These ADD-ON strips come with your choice of a 10', 25' or a 50' power lead to accommodate almost any motor home configuration. The power leads need to run back to the 12v power source where the controller is located.

SLIDE-OUT LIGHTING OPTION

D: Depending upon the width of your slide-out you can add a 4', 8', 12' or even a 16' ADD-ON LED light strip underneath your slide-out to illuminate the area immediately below the slide-out when it is out. The 4', 8' and 12' ADD-ON strips comes with either a 10', 25' or 50' power lead. The 16' ADD-ON strip comes with your choice of a 15', 25' or 50' power lead.
