ROCK-GUARD RGB LED LIGHT KIT
The Boogey Lights® ROCK-GUARD RGB LED LIGHT KIT is designed to mount to the existing rock guard found on motor-homes just behind the rear wheels. In many cases the rock guard has attractive chrome lettering on the guard (e.g. NEWMAR or ZEPHYR) so when the LEDs light up, the light reflects off that chrome lettering. Depending upon the options chosen, the Boogey Lights® Rock-Guard LED Light Kit can connect to the vehicle's Brake, Tail and Turn light system such that when the brake is pressed, the turning indicators used or the running lights turned on, the red LED lights on the rock guard illuminates and shines off the chrome lettering on the rock-guard. In addition, this kit can also interface with an existing Boogey Lights® Under-Glow LED Light kit such that the RGB Multi-Color lights on the rock guard light up and reflect off the chrome. It produces a very cool and unique lighting effect.
Available Configuration Options:
1. Brake, Tail & Turn: This option has everything you need to add our Rock-Guard LED Light Kit to your existing rock-guard and then tie them into the motor-home's brake, tail and turning indicators. The kit includes 2 - RED on Black PCB LED light strips each with their own 20' power lead and quick-disconnect connectors. These LED strips are mounted to a piece of aluminum angle which attaches directly to the existing rock guard using the existing rock-guard hardware. Each power lead runs to their respective left and right side light housing on the back of the motor-home where the connection is made to the brake, tail and turning indicator circuits. The quick-disconnect connectors are included in the event the rock-guard needs to be removed to allow for servicing in that area.
2. Under-Glow Interface: This option has everything you need to add our Rock-Guard LED Light Kit to your existing rock-guard and then tie them into an existing Boogey Lights® Under-Glow LED Light system (either previously installed or installed at the same time.) The kit includes one 8' long RGB on Black PCB LED light strip with a 50' power lead and quick-disconnect connector. This LED strips is mounted to a piece of aluminum angle which attaches directly to the existing rock guard using the existing rock-guard hardware. The single power lead runs up to the front of the coach where it ties into an existing Boogey Lights® Under-Glow LED Light system. The quick-disconnect connector is included in the event the rock-guard needs to be removed to allow for servicing in that area.
3. Brake, Tail & Turn PLUS Under-Glow: This options includes BOTH the Brake, Tail & Turn rock-guard kit PLUS the Under-Glow Interface kit mounted on a single light bar which attaches to the existing rock-guard.
MOTOR HOME APPLICATIONS
This kit will work on most modern motor-home rock-guards. The light bar itself is 94 3/4" long and consists of 1.5" x 1.5" x 1/8" aluminum angle. For the NEWMAR DUTCHSTAR motor-home pictured here, we had to drill a total of 10 holes in the aluminum angle. We used the rock-guard as a template. We had to dril TWO - 1/2" diameter holes where the two hanging chains mount to the rock-guard. Then we had to drive EIGHT - 1/4" diameter holes which secure the angle to the rock-guard. See photo diagram. All existing hardware is used. The light bar attaches to the back side of the rock-guard such that the LED light strips are facing downward toward the face of the rock-guard and the chrome lettering. We did have to add one chain link to each side to allow the rock-guard to swing freely. With the light bar angle mounted to the top of the rock-guard, you need to make sure there is enough room for the rock-guard to move freely when it is grounded. In the case of the Newmar Dutchstar the light bar top angle would hit the muffler assembly when grounding the rock-guard if we didn't add that extra chain link. Our Rock-Guard LED Light kit includes 2 of these extra chain links just in case you need them. Not all motor-home models will need it.
Brake, Tail & Turn Wiring
Tying into the motor-home brake, tail and turning indicators is straight forward. The Boogey Lights® Rock-Guard LED Light Bar has two RED LED strip power leads. Each LED power lead contains four wires: Black, Red, Green, Blue. The left side LED strip power lead connects to the motor home's left light cluster. The right side LED strip power lead connects to the motor home's right light cluster. Our kit includes crimp-on connectors to assist you in making these connectors. These light clusters are relatively easy to reach from the rear engine compartment.

Black = Ground
Green = Running Lights
Red = Brake Lights
Blue = Turning
On most modern motor-homes, the wire colors are as follows:
MOTORHOME WIRING
White (or Black) = Ground
Brown = Running Lights
Red = Brake Lights
Yellow (or Blue) = Left Turning Indicator
Green = Right Turning Indicator
The Motor-home to Boogey Lights® Rock-Guard Light Bar wiring is as follows:
White = Black
Brown = Green
Red = Red
Yellow = Blue (left led strip)
Green = Blue (right led strip)
In the event your motor-home doesn't have a separate brake light, then connect the YELLOW and GREEN wires on the motor-home turning indicators to the RED wire coming from the Rock-Guard Light Bar.
Note: On some motor homes (e.g. 2015 Tiffin Zephyr), the wire colors are a little different as follows:
BLACK = Ground
RED = Brake
BLUE = Right Turn
YELLOW = Left Turn
BROWN = Running
