Touring & Bagger Motorcycle LED Light Kit

Our most requested setup for baggers and touring bikes! This kit will light your bike from front to back. Built on our Hi-Performance Low Profile LED strips, these strips have more LEDs per inch than comparable strips on the market today. More LEDs means more light shining on your bike! Built with two ounce copper PCB, the brightest 5050 LEDs available and 1.2mm of genuine 3M® VHB double sided tape, these LED strips are made tough for motor sports applications. Impressively bright, our Hi-Intensity Low Profile LED strips are thin so they can barely be seen when attached to the bottom of your tank or under your saddle bags. They produce a smooth, even glow of light. Available in both single color as well as multi-color RGB configurations. Input voltage is 12vdc.

LED LENGTH CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

Our TOURING & BAGGER LED LIGHT kit is offered in two LED strip length configurations. We do this because some bikes have larger fuel tanks than others. The larger/longer fuel tanks have more room for LEDs on the bottom of them. Each configuration includes 8 Hi-Intensity LED surface mounted flexible strips in varying lengths plus either 2 LED strips (RGB) or 2 LED wheel lights (single color) used for lighting the brake calipers. You'll typically want to choose the LED length configuration that has two LED strips that best fit the entire length of your fuel tank.

LED Strip Length Configuration 1 (150 LEDs)
2 - 18 LED strips. Each strip is 12.25" long (fuel tank)
1 - 18 LED strip. Strip is 12.25" long (ground effects)
2 - 6 LED strips. Each strip is 4.5" long (horn and breather)
1 - 12 LED strip. Strip is 8.38" long (battery box)
2 - 30 LED strips. Each strip is 20" long (under the saddle bags)
2 - IF RGB LED strips, each with 6 LEDs + 7' of power lead (front wheel / brake caliper)

*Each LED strip has a 36" power lead (22 gauge) hard wired to the end with the other end sealed. If necessary you can cut the LED strip every 3 LEDs. Just be sure to seal the end with liquid electrical tape or similar substance to keep from shorting out when wet.

SINGLE COLOR & MULTI-COLOR OPTIONS

The single color version of this kit can be wired using the included push button switch or, add a wireless on/off (or on/off/dimming/bluetooth) remote.

The RGB Multi-Color version requires an LED controller to operate; make your selection from the drop down box above. This product offers both GEN 1 and GEN 2 LED controller options. The GEN 1 controller is out of production and offered at a significant discount. The only GEN 1 controller offered is an RGB controller only and has a rated capacity of 300 LEDs. It includes both RF wireless and Bluetooth control. Also includes our Brake Flash feature. The RGBx LED Controllers offered are our new GEN 2 (G2) RGBx COMBO RF + BLUETOOTH LED controllers and are offered in two capacity ratings. 300 LEDs and 900 LEDs. WHEEL LIGHTS

For single color lights, we include two 9-LED wheel light in your choice of LED color and case. These 9 LED wheel lights are designed to mount to the brake calipers of the front wheel where the 9 LEDs in the wheel light shine outward towards the rim.  You can read more about our 9 LED WHEEL LIGHTS here. These wheel lights are only for single color LED configurations. For multi-color configurations, the kit includes two LED strips each with 6 LEDs + 7' power lead to wrap around the brake calipers.

LED CONTROLLERS: GEN1 vs GEN2

Our first generation (GEN1) of Bluetooth LED Controllers were introduced in 2015. We introduced our second generation (GEN2) of Bluetooth LED Controllers in June 2023. This product only offers both our GEN1 and GEN2 controller. These GEN2 controllers have all the features and capabilities of the GEN1 controllers but with some additional add ons. For example, the GEN2 controllers can power Single Color, RGB, RGBA, RGBW and RGBWW LED strips whereas GEN1 were designed solely for Single Color and RGB. Regardless of the Controller Generation, with any Boogey Lights® BLUETOOTH LED controller you can control your Boogey Lights® with your Bluetooth enabled Android or IOS smartphone along with our FREE app (requires a different APP; one for each generation). The RGB versions of these high-tech controllers are capable of displaying 16 million different color combinations. The GEN2 RGBx version can display even more color combinations depending on the type of LED strips connected to them. In addition, lighting effects on the Bluetooth controller are significantly more controllable in terms of speed and intensity. Each color and lighting effect is controlled by "sliders" or a color square on your smartphone screen so you can adjust the speed and intensity to get the lighting the way you want it. All Bluetooth Combo LED controllers include a wireless RF remote control allowing for quick on/off of the LED controller along with controlling basic color changing and brightness settings with the press of a button. USING THE BRAKE FLASH FEATURE

The Brake Flash feature is available on both the GEN 1 and GEN 2 PLUS LED Controller (the 300 LED capacity controllers). When connected to the 12vdc brake light circuit, it will turn multi-color accent lights to red whenever the brakes are engaged. Its a great motorcycle safety feature to make sure you're seen. You do not have to use the brake flash feature. If you don't want it, simply cap the 12vdc brake flash trigger power input going to the LED controller. There is a similiar feature called the QUICK-SWITCH on the GEN 2 Super LED Controller (see below).

USING THE QUICK-SWITCH FEATURE

The Quick Switch feature is available on our GEN2 SUPER, HD SINGLE ZONE and HD DUAL ZONE LED Controllers.  Whatever color LED you have connected to the GREY output wire of the GEN2 Controller is the color that will display when the Quick Switch is triggered with 12vdc +.  The most common use for this configuration is with commercial vehicles who want to be able to instantly turn off whatever color they're running and turn on a DOT compliant AMBER which is on our RGBA LED strips. For these installations, the yellow trigger wire is connected to a toggle switch or other wireless switch that activates the AMBER leds.   This feature however can be used with other vehicles too such as RVs and Golf Carts. In these cases that yellow trigger wire is connected to a toggle switch that turns on the White or Amber diodes. When the Quick Switch trigger wire is not energized, the LED controller operates the RGBxx diodes normally.

QUICK-DISCONNECT CONNECTOR OPTION

The answer to future routine maintenance. Add these Quick Disconnect Connectors to your kit. Install inline on your tank wiring, breather, bags, side panels etc. Wherever future maintenance may require access.

NOTE ON UV/PURPLE SINGLE COLOR LEDS

True purple LED's are actually ultra-violet (UV).  They produce a soft, pleasant purple glow particularly when used on or near shiney reflective surfaces (e.g. chrome motorcycle engines).  The color however is not a real bright effect like you'll get with any of the other LED single colors.  If you want a subtle, purple glow that looks great, then the UV/LED's may well be for you.  If however you want the brightest lights possible, you will not be happy with UV/Purple. The alternative to UV/Purple is MAGENTA (some call it a 'hot purple') which looks similiar but has a brighter, pinkish tint. Magenta is created by mixing equal parts BLUE + RED which can be done using RGB plus LED Controller. We also offer this Magenta / Hot Purple color mix in our Single Color LED options.

OTHER ITEMS YOU MAY NEED

No two installation scenarios are the same. Not everyone shares the same installation quality goals. Some folks are OK with twisting wires together, others want to solder them. Some folks are OK with running wires where they may be seen or unprotected to save money/time, others want a tidy, clean install without any wires showing. Some folks are OK with mounting their LED strips to whatever surface they can find, others want to take the time necessary to build out appropriate mounting surfaces to provide the best lighting effect on their vehicle. The point is it's not possible to provide all the materials necessary for all installation scenarios and quality goals. Our light kits provide the essential components needed for a high-quality, functioning lighting system. Installation of our light kit to your specific vehicle may however require additional items to make it look and fit the way you want. This is particularly the case with electrical wiring and mounting of LED strips. Before proceeding with your installation we suggest you consider THESE OTHER ITEMS you may need.

SINGLE COLOR CONFIGURATIONS

  • Push Button On/Off (default). A simple On/Off push-button switch. Nothing fancy . We typically mount this switch on the left side of the bike just under the tank or a little forward of the seat.
  • Wireless RF ON/OFF with Key Fob. A simple wireless ON/OFF remote with 2 handheld remotes. The wireless ON/OFF remote is capable of switching a maximum of 5 amps. This ON/OFF remote measures 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 7/8". Single Color LEDs only.
  • Wireless RF ON/OFF/DIM/STROB with KEY FOB and Bluetooth. A step up from the ON/OFF wireless remote that gives you the ability to also dim and strob the LEDs. This remote measures 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 7/8". 5 amps maximum.

MULTI-COLOR CONFIGURATIONS

  • GEN 1 Wireless RF + Bluetooth RGB LED Controller with KEY FOB style remote and Brake Flash feature (300 LEDs). Maximum capacity is 300 LEDs (5 amps total). This controller is designed to be used with RGB/Multi-Color LEDs. In addition to ON/OFF, this controller provides DIMMING, STROBBING and FLASHING capabilities. Plus, this LED controller will work with your Android® or iOS® Smart phone equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 (max of 16 million color possibilities). With the included RF remote you get all of the functionality of our popular Multi-Function Remote Control that allows you to change between 7 colors and functions of on/off, blending, strobing, breathing, flashing, fading and dimming. You can also use your Bluetooth enabled smart phone to create that custom look with over 16 million different color combinations plus three pre-sets and color rotation programming. It will also work with the included keyfob wireless remote. You get the best of both worlds. This controller is our PLUS SERIES and measures 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 7/8". Note: Our GEN 1 series of LED Controllers is out of production. This controller is offered on this product at a significant price reduction.   • GEN 2 Wireless RF + Bluetooth RGB LED Controller with KEY FOB style remote and Brake Flash feature (300 LEDs). Maximum capacity is 300 LEDs (5 amps total). This controller is designed to be used with RGB/Multi-Color LEDs. In addition to ON/OFF, this controller provides DIMMING, STROBBING and FLASHING capabilities. Plus, this LED controller will work with your Android® or iOS® Smart phone equipped with Bluetooth (max of 16 million color possibilities). With the included RF remote you get all of the functionality of our popular Multi-Function Remote Control that allows you to change between 7 colors and functions of on/off, blending, strobing, breathing, flashing, fading and dimming.   • GEN 2 Wireless RF + Bluetooth RGBx LED Controller with M7 style remote and Quick-Switch feature (900 LEDs). This LED controller has the same features as the previous multi-color RGBx controller except that the maximum capacity is 900 LEDs (10 amps total). It's the controller we recommend for most touring and bagger installations particularly if you think you're going to expand the installation and/or add a trailer with lights to the configuration. With that greater LED capacity though the controller is larger and may not easily fit under the seat so you may have to mount it in a saddle bag / trunk. This controller is our SUPER SERIES and measures 4-1/4" x 2-1/4" x 7/8".

Typical Installation

Each strip has a 36" power lead hard wired to one end of the strip. On a V-Twin the suggested layout for the lights is as follows:

  • Depending upon the LED configuration you purchased, install the 18 LED (or 15 LED) under the bottom of the tank on both sides. Install the 6 LED (or 3 LED) inside the horn cover and behind the breather backplate.
  • Depending upon the LED configuration you purchased, install the 6 LED (or 9 LED) behind the engine on the seatpan, oil/battery box or frame downtube. Align it to shine on the rear of the engine. Take the longer LED strip (15 or 12 LEDs depending the configuration you purchased) and install on the frame below the engine. Install on the inside of the frame so it won't be damaged by a jack or when loading onto a trailer.
  • Use the two 30 LEDs strips for mounting under each of the saddle bags; one on each side.
  • Install one 6 LED strip on the backside of the caliper to light the bottom of the wheel. Run the power lead up the brake line and back to the power source. On bikes with a single caliper consider using the second strip on the rear wheel. You might also be able to install these strips inside the fender or under the fender strut. Looks nice! If you purchased the single color version, the single color wheel lights can be affixed directly to the brake calipers.

This kit is easy for a do-it-yourselfer. Just like the chrome on your bike, this kit is fully expandable and allows you to easily add additional strips in the future.

These lights will also work well on a Can-Am Spyder. Order some extra strips until you get the coverage you want.

NOTE: We always recommend dry fitting or temporarily mounting the lights before installation to make sure you get the look you want. The suggestions above are our recommendations. The final mounting location for the lights comes down to your personal preference. So put them where it makes sense to you and for your bike.

Sealed, Flexible Strips

The LEDs on our HI-INTENSITY strips are sealed against the elements. They are heat resistant, waterproof and easily cleaned for a lifetime of maintenance free operation. The soft, gel-like strips provide maximum flexibility and a clean and sleek appearance. Their low profile design makes them virtually invisible when placed on the bottom of your tank and their wide viewing angle floods your bike with light.

Each strip has a 36" power lead which is hard wired to one end of the stip. If you need to cut a strip, be sure to cut where indicated on the strip (ever 3 LEDs) and make sure you seal the cut end with liquid electrical tape or something similiar to keep water from shorting out the strip. A wrong cut in the wrong place or not sealing the cut end properly will void your warranty. Call us if you are unsure where to make your cut.
